MEETINGS

We have regular meetings on the second and third Thursdays of the month, with ad hoc observing evenings on the fourth Thursdays in the observing season (September to April)

Main Meetings
These are our main monthly events and usually involve a talk, often by a professional astronomer. Subjects range from cosmology and astronomy to spaceflight and the history of astronomy.  They take place on the second Thursday of the month from September to May.
Unless otherwise stated, these meetings are held from 8 pm to about 10 pm
at the headquarters of Worcestershire Wildlife Trust at Lower Smite Farm, Smite Hill, Hindlip, Worcester. WR3 8SZ (see directions below).

Practical Astronomer/Astronomy School
Our third Thursday sessions are changing.  Starting in 2018 our third Thursday evenings will consist of our ever popular 'Practical Astronomers' sessions one month, with alternate months being video presentations on Astronomy or Cosmology.    We've also added a short observing session to the end of all of these sessions.
Practical Observer -  Aimed at both the beginner and the more experienced observer, these sessions cover a wide variety of topics of interest to the active observer and imager.  Recent talks have included DIY projects for the astronomer, Video astronomy, eyepieces, and observing and imaging asteroids.
Astronomy School - A series of short video presentations taking you through a huge range of subjects in astronomy and cosmology.
Observing Session - Both 'Practical Astronomer' and 'Astronomy School' sessions at Crown East will (if clear) now conclude with an opportunity for a short observing session through on of the society's telescopes.  These short observing sessions are in addition to our usual 4th Thursday Observing Evenings (see below).

These sessions run between January and May and between September and December on the third Thursday of the month.  All sessions start after 8:30 pm and take place at Crown East Scout Hut, Crown East, Worcester (see directions below).
TO HELP AVOID TRAFFIC PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLES PICKING UP SCOUTS LEAVING THE SITE, PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE AT THE VENUE BEFORE 8:30PM

Observing Evenings
On the same months as the Practical Astronomer/Astronomy School sessions, if clear, we also run public observing nights at Crown East on the fourth Thursday of month starting at 8:30 pm.  Bring along your own  telescope or look through one of the society’s telescopes.

Check our Newsgroup after 7:45 pm in the evening to confirm whether or not the observing session will take place.
